VASYL VASYLENKO LEADS DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNADER 

AT DONBASS OPERA, UKRAINE

 

Vasyl Vasylenko continues his season-long celebration of Wagner's bicentennary, conducting Der Fliegende Holländer at the Donbass Opera through February 7.

Wagner figures prominently in the maestro's Donetsk performances.

The production, directed by German stage-director Mara Kurochka, sees Johannes von Duisburg as Holländer, Tatyana Plehanova as Senta, Vitaliy Kozin as Erik, Yury Alexeychuk as Daland, Vladimir Khamraev as Steuermann and Anna Maksudova as Mary. At Donbass Opera, Vasylenko performs Der Fliegende Holländer in April and in May as well.
